Reliable hosting, consistent performance

This was my third time ordering from Unihost, this time a Storage Server for backups. As with my previous VPS and dedicated server orders, the deployment was smooth and the server was ready in under an hour. I've always found their infrastructure to be very reliable, which is why I keep coming back. The support team is also consistently helpful when I've had questions about specific configurations, even on minor things. It's good to know I can count on them for different server needs without any surprises. They deliver what they promise.

Fast deployment, great support!

I just got a new Managed Dedicated Server from Unihost and it was up and running so quickly! I needed a bit of help configuring something specific for my e-commerce site, and their 24/7 technical support was super responsive and walked me through it. It's refreshing to get that kind of dedicated service without waiting forever. I'm already planning my next project and will definitely be coming back for another server. You should totally check them out!

i'm in California, how good is their network performance here? any idea which data centers would be best?

T Tom J. 2 months ago
They have data centers all over, so you'd probably want one on the west coast for best latency. I'd ask their support chat to confirm specifics for your location.

I'm on the East Coast and mine is solid. For CA, you'd want to make sure they have a local PoP or at least a good hub nearby. Check their datacenter map if they have one.

thinking about Unihost for a game server, how does it stack up against someone like Hetzner or OVHcloud for raw performance and price?

D David W. 2 months ago
Unihost can be a bit pricier than Hetzner for unmanaged bare metal, but the managed options are really good. Support is better than OVHcloud from my experience.

Depends on what you need. If you're comparing apples to apples, Unihost often has better support and more included features than the cheapest plans from Hetzner. For raw 'bang for buck' on a budget, Hetzner can be hard to beat, but Unihost feels more premium.

what if i sign up and then decide it's not for me? is there a money-back guarantee or am I stuck?

P Priya Z. 2 months ago
They do have a money-back thing, but it's usually for a short period, like 7 days or something. Read the fine print on their site.

T Tara P. 2 months ago
Yeah, there's a refund policy. Not sure the exact number of days, but it's enough to test things out. Just don't go past the window if you plan to cancel.

how long does it typically take to get a VPS set up once I order? trying to get a project off the ground pretty quickly.

R Rachel 1 month ago
From my experience, VPS are pretty fast. I had mine running within an hour or two. Dedicated might take a bit longer though.

O Omar F. 1 month ago
Server deployment is usually quick for VPS, like minutes sometimes. Dedicated can be a few hours depending on the configuration.

Check their promotions page or just try a quick google for 'Unihost promo code'. Most discounts are for the first billing cycle.

are there any discounts for students? building a portfolio site and every bit helps.

C Cody 1 month ago
I haven't seen a specific student discount mentioned, but it's worth asking their sales team directly. Sometimes they have unadvertised deals.

I don't recall seeing a student discount myself, but maybe reach out to their support? Doesn't hurt to ask.

do they take PayPal? or is it just credit card for payments?

J June Whitfield 1 month ago
I've paid with PayPal before, so yeah, they do.

Pretty sure they have a bunch of options, PayPal is definitely one. Check their checkout page, it usually lists all the accepted methods there.

i'm looking at their unmanaged dedicated servers. what does 'free management' really mean if it's unmanaged?

R Ryan L. 2 months ago
That's probably a bit confusing wording. For unmanaged, 'free management' likely refers to the basic stuff like network uptime and hardware replacement, not actual OS or software management on your server.
5
S Sam Okafor 2 months ago
Yeah, for unmanaged, it means they'll keep the lights on and the hardware running, but everything inside the OS is on you. If you want them to handle updates and configurations, you need a 'managed' plan.
